blog_izzy

This is my friend Izzy. I met her in art class last semester at Abilene Christian University :) we both live in Austin now (she goes back to ACU in the fall), and I got to hang out with her a few nights ago. I’m working on a separate project with these photos. One I think you’ll like very much :) keep an eye open for her pretty silhouette in the next few days.

p.s. Like the new blog look? I know I certainly do!

Jody & Family | Albany, Texas family portraits

June 17th, 2010

I know Jody through Katelyn & Matt, a couple who’s wedding I shot a month or so ago. Jody is such a sweet heart :) and so are her kiddos! The four hour drive from Austin to Albany for this shoot was totally worth it. Jody picked out the perfect outfits and was right on time for her session. She and her girls, Charlee and Caitlyn, were all smiles, and Charlee’s dad was such a good helper (he carried around props for me the entire shoot! I didn’t even have to ask. So sweet). Anyway, enough chit chat. Look at this cute family!

P.S. Baby feet will always be the most adorable things ever.
Untitled-1

And here is Charlee’s sweet big sister, Caitlyn (sorry if I got the spelling wrong, Jody!). Isn’t she adorable?HELLOOAbove: The pictures of Charlee and her dad at the softball feild are really special for their family. Charlee has and will continue to grow up around a family who LOVES to play softball, and we wanted to make sure to get some pictures to remember that part of her life. I just can’t get enough of the picture of Charlee in her daddy’s hat :) she might not have liked it too much, but it was so cute, nonetheless :)

Hope you found some you love, Jody! Your family was just TOO cute. Thank you for choosing me to photograph this precious time in your life. You are awesome!

Mikey, the Sturdevants, and a Holga camera | Personal

June 17th, 2010

Oh. My. Goodness.

It was so hard to pick all the pictures for this blog. haha There were so many! A few weeks ago, my wonderful boyfriend came to visit again and while he was here, he bought a new camera and learned a little about mine. We also hung out with a lot of his family and friends during his stay and while visiting his family, I took some family pictures of them. So like I said, it took me a long time to edit all the pictures and pick favorites to blog! So! Enjoy family and friends. I know we enjoyed taking all these photos :)

This next series is all pictures taken by THE Michale Sturdevant :) except for the first photo. That was me. But anyway, Michale, or as I call him, Mikey, bought a Holga camera and these are some of my favorite shots he took with it.

holga

Ok, back to digital. Here’s Mikey showing off his new, awesome camera. He also took some pictures of me with my digital. Any picture without rounded corners is one that he took. Untitled-1

During his visit to Austin, we met his parents in Waco for some good ole quality time. We made sure to get some family pictures in :) Mikey’s dad works in Morocco, Africa, and Mikey is off in the Navy, so it was important to get pictures while they were all together. Mikey’s dad was sweet enough to get a picture of me and Mikey together. This picture below was taken at the Zoo…in Texas…during the middle of the day in summer. I’m very surprised that Mikey and I aren’t visibly drenched in sweat in this picture below. haha Instead, we’re just very very pale.

Also, the pictures of Melynda and Chris are SO ADORABLE. Easily some of my favorites. It was so evident that Melynda missed her man and was happy to be with him after he had been away for so long. You can just see it in her eyes :) Love it!  Chris, Melynda, you two are so sweet and I’m glad I see you guys again :) Hope these pictures are what you were looking for. More coming to you in the mail now!family2

Back to more photos Michale and I took :) there are just so many…

Amelia & Chris | Engagements

May 20th, 2010

When Amelia asked me to do her engagement pictures, I got extremely excited. I knew Amelia in high school, and I knew her as THE fashionista of Albany, Texas. Amelia was always dressed in the cutest outfits and I knew that for this shoot, she was going to go all out. She did not disappoint. And neither did her beau, Chris! They both looked so classy. Their sweet mothers also came along for the shoot, and they too, were just as stylish :)

Chris and Amelia are so cute and in love. They laughed, played, joked, kissed, and smiled constantly. They are just so cute. And again, stylish! I’m so curious to see what magnificent wedding plans they have going on!

For their shoot, they met me in my new hometown of Austin, Texas (woohoo!). We found some really awesome locations downtown, and I can’t wait to show them to you! Enjoy, friends!

ameliaandchrisbefore we go any further, I MUST give a little shout out to Chris and Amelia’s mothers! They were so helpful all day. Look how cute they are!

DSCF9434Oh yeah, by the way, Amelia and her mother drove all the way to Austin with a COUCH in their car! It was well worth it though. I love when clients bring props, big or small :)

ameliaandchris2Chris and Amelia, I hope you found some you love! I enjoyed working with you two. You are so in love and it shows.

Maggie | Senior Pictures

May 4th, 2010

This is my dearest friend Maggie. She is wonderful. She’s brilliant, hilarious, a fabulous writer, awesome volleyball player, newspaper columnist,Harry Potter enthusiast… She’s also the one I have to thank for being addicted to the show How I Met Your Mother. She is many things, but my favorite thing about her is that she is her. No one else. She is splendidly Maggie. I love that :)

She and my friend, Melany, split a two hour session to make their pictures more budget and time savvy. I like that idea :) Told you they’re brilliant. Nonetheless, I’ll be posting their pictures in two separate posts. More to come on that tomorrow! Enjoy everyone! If you do, leave a comment saying so :)

maggie

Since Maggie and Melany split the cost of a two hour session, they each got an hour of shooting time. In between their two sessions, we got a few of them together. Here’s just a few to prove it :)

New look | Design

May 3rd, 2010

Hello everyone! As you can see, the blog is looking a little different. There are many new changes come to Mary Klaren Photography and Design, and this is just one of those great changes! This probably won’t be a permanent look, but I think it’s much better than the old layout :)

In just five days, I’ll be leaving Abilene, Texas for Austin, Texas. It’s a big change for me, and I can’t wait to start my life there. This summer I’ll be working on a more efficent blog, updating my portfolio site, packaging and mailing ideas, pricing, and finally creating a consistent brand for myself. I may be working with some pretty awesome graphic designers to get this accomplished, so be expecting some great things on that! Also be expecting some awesome pictures of Austin.

Even though this layout isn’t permanent, it’s still pretty cool. Things you can do with this cool new layout:

1. If you’re looking for examples of something specific, like Senior Pictures or Engagements, you can check out the Categories page and click on the link of what you’re trying to find. Pretty awesome, eh?

2. Like my photography? Awesome! Check out the link above that says “Facebook” to become a fan! Or, eh, “like” it, as we’re calling it now!

3. Want to know more about me, what equipment I use, or who inspires my work? Check out the “About” page and find out everything you need to know.

4. So you have a session coming up and you don’t know what to wear? No worries! Check out the link above that says “What to wear” for all of my favorite suggestions.

And because every post just isn’t right without a picture, enjoy a preview from a recent senior session! I’ll post the rest of them ASAP :)
